Third meeting of Donors’ Sectorial Working Group (SWG) on gender equality and domestic violence recommends future challenges.

Third Donors’ meeting took place on 22 April 2009, chaired by Ms. Zaçe Deputy Minister of Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities. The aim of this meeting was to discuss on the achievements in the gender equality and domestic violence area during the last 4 years and in particular on the implementation of the NSGE/DV 2007-2010 as well as the donors’ contribution and technical support in meeting the objectives of this strategy.
After the presentation on the supporting role of the donors in meeting the NSGE/
DV objectives and the challenges faced, the Director of Directorate of Equal Opportunities Policies, Mrs. Anna Xheka, dwelt on a number of important recommendations for furthering such collaboration, such as:
•    Establishing collaboration and reporting line with the DEOP on the impact of the donor funded NGO projects on gender equality and domestic violence.
•    Establishing a database with the names of trained people who shall later be involved with future programs or projects of the DEOP on gender mainstreaming at central and local level.
•    Increasing cross-agency collaboration, especially with regards to foreign projects and assistance in specific fields such as education, and healthcare related to the objectives of NSGE/DV.
•    Holding frequent meetings and advisory sessions between the DEOP and the donors on the subjects they support on various fields related to the NSGE/DV implementation.
•    Ensuring support from the Donors’ Sectorial Working Group on the regional initiative of the Economic Commission (UNECE) for the status of women entrepreneurs and women’s managerial skills.

In this meeting it was agreed that MoLSAEO collaborates with DEBASKON in improving the existing matrix which is to be later distributed to all participants who can then give their opinions in finalizing the donors’ reporting matrix.
Mr. Indrit Faja, the representative of the Department for Strategy Cooperation and Foreign Aid Coordination, talked about the terms of reference for the Donors’ Sectorial Working Group (DSWG) that will serve as guidelines on their work. It was agreed that all comments on the terms of reference for the DSWG shall be forwarded to the Department for Strategy Cooperation and Foreign Aid Coordination and the MoLSAEO at the end of each month. He introduced the DSWG meeting plan for 2009.
At the end of the meeting, the donors and the other international partners expressed their willingness to further support the Albanian government’s plan in gender equality and domestic violence.
