Meeting of Working Group on Ageing, Geneva 1-2 December 2008

The first meeting of the working group on ageing was held during 1-2 December 2008 in Geneva. Representatives of 38 countries from UNECE, European Commission, 10 NGOs, and international organizations like UNFPA, ECV, INIA, OECD, etc, took part in this meeting.

November – December 2008, Campaign “For an equal and violent-free family and society; for me, for you, for us, STOP VIOLENCE”

Directorate for Policies on Equal Opportunities, an active actor in the 16 days campaign against violence towards women.
In the framework of global campaign on fight against violence towards women, the Albanian campaign “16 days of events on the fight against violence towards women” was organised from 25 November until 10 December. The MoLSAEO compiled a diverse agenda of events for this campaign.

Drafting of sub-legal acts to Law No. 9970, dated 24.07.2008 “For gender equality in society”

Supported by the OSCE and the UNDP, the MoLSAEO has taken the initiative to draft some sub-legal acts for the implementation of Law 9970, dated 24.07.2008 “On Gender Equality” led by the Directorate for Policies and Equal Opportunities, and the Juridical Directorate. The drafted sublegal acts aim at establishing the new structures foreseen by the law, such as the National Gender Equality Council, and they define clearly the functioning of this new structure as a council ling body in outlining and developing
gender equality policies in Albania.
